Canyon de La Vieja Adventure Lodge is surrounded by beautiful gardens, located just 8km from Liberia, 30km from the Papagayo Gulf and 18km from the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Enclosed in exuberant tropical forest, each of the 50 rooms provides an exclusive refuge where guests can relax amid the tranquility and sounds of nature.

The hotel has a beautiful tropical architecture that reflects the beauty of the natural wonders of Costa Rica and offers the opportunity to enjoy the best of authentic culture and local Guanacaste hospitality. The Rincón de la Vieja National Park boasts an area space of 14, 161 hectares and is home to the most important water basin in Guanacaste. It presents breathtaking landscapes, beautiful waterfalls, relaxing thermal waters, boiling mud pools, a fresh volcanic water lagoon, picnic areas and winding trails that can be traversed on foot or by horseback. 

One of the main attractions that we have at Canyon de La Vieja Lodge is the wide variety of adventure tours that you can enjoy and live memorable experiences near the canyon of the Colorado River. We offer at our hotel canopy, rafting, rappelling, rock climbing, tubing tours. We also offer tours at the national park, which include trail walks, bird watching, volcanic exploration and geothermics.

At Canyon de La Vieja Lodge we have two full service restaurant where local ingredients are combined with a world class kitchen to offer a unique gastronomic experience.

Property Location

We are located 18km from the International Liberia Airport in the province of Guanacaste; from the main Liberia intersection (traffic lights), 5km north on the Pan-American Highway and 3km east on the highway towards the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. From this amazing area you can admire nature at its peak and discover the beautiful national parks of Guanacaste. We are the ideal lodging option if you are looking to explore natural parks. We are located 30 minutes from Rincon de la Vieja National Park, 45 minutes from Santa Rosa National Park and 1 hour and 30 minutes from the Palo Verde National Park.

Weather and Temperature

With an elevation of 120m above sea level, the climate is dry and warm from December to April; sunny days, trade winds and starry nights. Rainy season normally starts between the middle of May and finishes around the middle of November. It is characterized by the lush landscapes, sunny mornings and rainy afternoons almost every day. In July and August we have a phenomenon called the summer of San Juan.

We have 50 rooms surrounded by exuberant tropical forest, providing an exclusive refuge where guests can relax amid the tranquility and sounds of nature. All rooms are equipped with 2 double beds, air conditioning, private baths, hot water, amenities, a small terrace out front and free access to Wi-Fi.

Restaurants and Bar

Restaurant Nimbu

Our restaurant has a capacity for 140 people. We offer our clients a variety of dishes to choose from including appetizers, traditional local fare, salads, soups, main dishes and occasionally a buffet for breakfast and lunch; and free Wi-Fi access for all our customers. Our restaurant has been awarded with 3 levels for sustainable Costa Rican cuisine by the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) The restaurant is open from 06:30am to 09:00am and 11:30am to 02:30pm.

Rancho Los Almendros / Pool Bar

At Rancho los Almendros our guests can enjoy exotic tropical cocktails, fresh fruit juices and appetizers. We also offer light lunches perfect after a morning of adventure while you relax in the pool or access the free internet. Rancho Los Almendros is open from 11:00am to 10:00pm.

Los Almendros Restaurant

It is our new restaurant for guests who stay in the hotel, with a capacity of 110 people, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. We offer the service of a-la-carte lunches and buffet and a-la-carte dinners from 12:00pm to 9:00pm.

The Green Spa

Located on the shores of the Colorado River, where our therapist who has over 10 years of experience in body health and local treatment techniques, will help you relax after a day of intense adventure. It is open until 6:30pm. Some of our treatments are:
